Bivy

Bivy is a contemporary art gallery and bookstore founded by Simonetta Mignano in 2017 in Anchorage, Alaska, on Dena’ina land. Bivy mainly focuses on intersecting contemporary art and craft through exhibitions, performances, participatory practices and other events. At Bivy features a small bookstore dedicated to artists’ books, zines and ephemera by artists and makers, including an all-Alaskan section, and limited editions published by Bivy often in occasion of the exhibitions.

In 2020 Bivy launched the
School of Nonfunctional Studies (SNS), an open, informal and experimental school project where each program fosters radically imaginative thought and invites the participants to experiment with multiple ways of knowing and making.

Join on
Zoom.

Sunday, December 13, at 11AM AKST (21:00 CEST), on occasion of the Anchorage Zine Fair 2020, Bivy's
School of Nonfunctional Studies (SNS) presents a group reading from issues of PIM (Public Illumination Magazine) followed by a very informal Q&A via chat with Prof. Dr. Dr. Zagreus Bowery, Editor of PIM. Participants are welcome to preselect an excerpt to read at their choice on www.mondorondo.com/pim. Selections can be as short as a haiku or as long as a “full-page” story. There are around 1280 to choose from in 64 issues. PIM is the world’s smallest magazine of its kind, started in 1979 in New York by Prof. Dr. Dr. Zagreus Bowery (pseudonym). Several issues of PIM can be found for sale at Bivy.
