Enzina Marrari

Aritst statement:
Enzina Marrari is a conceptual visual and performance artist. She believes that art is a tool for communication and connection and through her work creates intimate and shared experiences. Enzina’s process explores visual narratives; often the transformation of stories into interpreted landscapes, audio narratives, and physical experiences.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Enzina works across the genres of two-dimensional mixed media, drawing, fiber, soft and wearable sculpture, installation, and performance art. Her works present a visual story that create a shared experience for the viewer and provide a deeper connection to what is often unsaid, secretive, or withheld. Rooted in figure drawing and sculpture, Enzina’s work began as a study of the human form and expands beyond the physical to include the emotional, cognitive, shared, and lived experiences. She pushes the boundaries of personal vs. social space by confronting norms and behaviors and inviting the viewer into the work. This immersive experience results in a sense of exposure, vulnerability, and investigation for herself and for the viewer. Marrari strives to reinforce the idea that what is experienced on an intimate, personal level is shared and experienced on a broad, social level. Marrari is influenced by personal truths of fear, loss, identity, and struggle and the stories of those around her.
