Vision

Human poem is an arts and writing-based project in Alaska that combines restorative practices, identity discussions and creative arts to help participants communicate and work with others across lines of difference. With performance, art creation and interactive exercises, dialogue is facilitated to create a space for awareness and negotiation of self, social diversity and social responsibility.

Philosophy

Alaska schools and organizations are needing more out of our diversity education. With some of the most diverse schools and neighborhoods in the country, Anchorage has an increasing need for open-communication, critical dialogue, self-awareness and tolerance. Alaskan communities need the tools and support necessary to continue difficult conversations that push us forward. Our workshops create space to prioritize stories of our intersecting social identities and to explore how it interacts with our personal experiences, values and perspectives.
